Final Blaze
COMMAND:
QCB HCF + P
QUOTE:
DISCRIPTION:
Darrell twists his body, collecting his flames with both hands. He then turns back to face his opponent, his hands
up above his head, and then throws his hands down, launching a huge cascade of flames towards his opponent. Due to its
size, it is almost impossible to jump over or sidestep.
NAME:
Manatsunoatsusa
TRANSLATION:
The Heat of High Summer
COMMAND:
QCF QCF + K
QUOTE:
DISCRIPTION:
Darrell starts by holding up a flame in one hand over his head. A second later he’ll whisk it down to the ground,
the flame forming into a wide sea leaving a long trail behind as it moves forward. If this hits, Darrell will warp to where
his opponent is and deliver a barrage of attacks before ending with a burning blast of energy & a jumping uppercut.
The attack must be blocked low, since the flames to initiate the attack travel along the floor. This move is Dream Cancellable into the Onhaisui…
Level 2 Super Arts
NAME:
Onhaisui
TRANSLATION:
Thermal Discharge
COMMAND:
QCB QCB + P
QUOTE:
DISCRIPTION:
Darrell braces himself by crossing his arms in front of his face, then lets out a huge dome of fire around him that hits his
opponent a bit before it blows them away. The dome itself doesn’t do as much damage as the rest of his supers (although
it does stun anyone who’s inside the dome’s range), but the main reason for this move is to surround his entire
body with flames. During this time, Darrell's attacks always burn the opponent and his attack power goes up. Also,
if his opponent tries to hit him, unless the attack has more priority than the Onhaisui, the person will get burned away from
Darrell. Despite all the good, the Onhaisui doesn't last long and also cannot be used in conjunction to any other super
attacks. When Darrell uses another super with the Onhaisui activated, the flames will vanish into the next attack and
the Onhaisui will end. When used into a Mystic Cancel, Darrell will immediately
perform the Yuurai Hanketsu, yet with a flaming aura around him. At the end of
the move, the Onhaisui ends instantly.
Level 3 Hyper Art
NAME:
Yuurai Hanketsu
TRANSLATION:
Guilty Verdict
COMMAND:
QUOTE:
DISCRIPTION:
Darrell turns a bit and holds out a hand, beckoning his opponent to hit him. If it's a physical attack (normal, special, super
or hyper) the next thing anyone knows, Darrell's behind his opponent, Shakunetsu Ittou out as if he made an attack. From there,
he'll stand, twirling the sword in his right hand, and taunt his opponent again, then he'll turn around and throw
the flame sword at the ground right underneath his opponent, igniting his opponent in flames as an explosion blasts them
off into the air. This is Darrell's most powerful move and has great priority over most attacks on the circuit.
However, against attacks of even greater priority, Darrell might not counter right off the initial hit and might even take
some damage himself while doing so. However, as long as it is a physical attack, he will counter attack. This move does quite a bit less damage is Dream/Mystic Cancelled from.

HISTORY
A little
known fact: Darrell’s full name is Darrell Markis Goodson. This kid, born
in New Jersey, USA,
could be best summed up as... different from other African Americans from that area.
Darrell was raised up in a neighborhood where drugs and gangs were slowly growing to be a problem. However, he would never even give thought to such things. At
a very young age, Darrell was interested in activities that he felt comfortable with, and anything else he’d case off
to be forgotten. Where boys his age would be interested in basketball and such,
Darrell took a liking to bowling, billiards, an excessive taste to video games, and, at the age of 9, Japanese anime and martial
arts movies. Like any normal kid, Darrell often left his imagination to run wild,
imitating the kung fu and karate moves and quotes that he heard and saw from the TV.
At the time, any person could’ve dismissed this as normal behavior for a kid.
However, one day, this growing fascination for Asians would begin to shape Darrell’s life.
At
the age of 12, Darrell, one day, was coming home from school, where he came to a local grocery story a few blocks away from
his actual home. Normally he wouldn’t have any problems with this particular
store, but this day was different. As he crossed the entrance, the door flew
open and he accidentally collided with a few rough-looking people. As fate had
it, these were gang members, and they were just finished robbing the store. This
fact wasn’t into Darrell’s mind, however, the members thought that Darrell saw everything that went on in the
store. They attempted to get rid of him, but Darrell ran... A few blocks later he came to a dead end. Just when the gang
members through that they’d have an easy kill, Darrell did the only thing he could really think of; fight back. Using the little knowledge he knew from the movies he watched, he, surprisingly fought
his assailants back. From this day on, Darrell grew a hatred towards gangs, but
never really made any action about it except for keeping to himself.
His
mother, on his 13th year and first year in middle school, took that altercation to have Darrell learn about self
defense. Although Darrell enlisted in taking Tae Kwon Do lessons, after a few
months, he stopped attending the classes. Although he never told why he stopped,
in his mind, he just couldn’t stand be taught by another person how to use his fists.
The idea never appealed to him as exciting and ultimately it just felt like taking another class in school.
A few
weeks after his last class, Darrell caught on TV one faithful day a match for an exhibition street fight match. Prior to this, Darrell heard about the Street Fighter 1 competition that was held and also heard of warriors,
both new up comers and old veterans, having their bouts televised internationally. Also,
Darrell made Pan American champ, Ken Masters, his personal idol. His personality
really grabbed Darrell’s attention as cool, and, where as his classmates thought he was weird, Darrell would try to
imitate Ken’s attacks in his backyard, away from prying eyes. However,
this day way different. That day was the marking of a rookie in the circuit,
a 15 year old school girl from Japan who
went by the name Sakura Kasugano. As Darrell watched her interview prior to her
fight with Sagat, he couldn’t help but feel taken back at this turn of events.
Not only was she a girl, but she had a lot of similarities to him in her life.
He was even more impressed with the actual fight. Sakura’s cute
looks hit a very good raw fighting spirit, and it even gave the emperor of Muay Thai a run for him money. At the conclusion of the fight, Darrell grew to be a fan of Sakura, putting her right next to Ken as his
inspiration to get better at fighting. He then made a wish that he could travel
to Japan one day when he was ready to challenge Sakura himself.
One
year later, when he was in the middle of 8th grade, an offer was being handed out for students in his school to
travel overseas for study. Once the destinations were announced, Darrell immediately
signed up and in a matter of weeks, he was off to Tokyo, Japan for the first time.
While
there, Darrell not only took this as the perfect opportunity to try to find Sakura, but also to try to learn more about the
Japanese culture, which appealed to him ever since he was little. However, he
couldn’t go a few days without noticing that something was a miss in the high schools.
Once hearing about the news about disappearing students, Darrell decided to take it upon himself to try to investigate
it a little. Little did he know that he was being scouted by kids from the new
high school, Justice High. It wasn’t long until he was confronted by them,
and once he refused to join them, found himself ambushed. Although he did fairly
well despite the sheer numbers, once weapons were brought onto the scene, he just couldn’t hold on long enough. Before he could pass out, two high school freshmen schoolgirls came to his aid. When he woke up in the hospital an hour later, he found himself face to face with
the girl that he admired, Sakura.
As
Sakura explained the situation to him, Darrell grew aware that he was over his head in such a predicament. So, as a result, Sakura eventually found herself coming to the hospital every other day to teach Darrell
a few tricks about fighting. Once he took her information to heart, Darrell willed
himself to recover faster than normal and decided to secretly find out who was responsible about it. Sneaking around Justice High, Darrell eventually caught sight of a man in red. As he increased his snooping, he found out that he was Hyo Iwamano and that he was the man responsible. He then opted to try a sneak attack, but he didn’t realize how strong Hyo was. By the time the other students got to the secret metting room, Hyo had him in submission...
until Darrell dug deep inside and fired one last hot shot from the Hadouken, this one powered with a flare that his moves
never held before. It was enough to take Hyo off guard and weaken him for Batsu
and Kyosuke to take him down.
Shortly
afterwards, when the school year ended, Darrell headed back over to the United States but not before meeting Sakura one more
time and promising her that he’d return, better than he was now. As he
returned, he was anxious to tell his friends what he experienced overseas, only he was discouraged to find out that most of
his friends moved out as a result of a sudden gang war throughout his hometown. His
family was also in the process of moving, and he couldn’t blame them. The
fighting was so severe that the police could hardly contain it. It was also enough
to make Darrell return back to Japan earlier than he expected. He just couldn’t
take the stress. However, before he left he did manage to do some solo training
to find out how he summoned those flames during the Hyo fight. This exploration
lead to the making of two new moves, the Shakunetsuken and the Shakunetsu Shinku Hadouken.
Shortly
after he arrived back in Japan a year
later, Darrell was reunited with Sakura and his other friends, but the reunion was shortlived.
Kei Chitose was violated in an alleyway and it was then that Sakura, Hinata, and Darrell were exposed to Shadowloo,
a worldwide crime syndicate. After that incident, Darrell opted to live with
Sakura and take time to do some training as well. This, too, would be interrupted
by Shadowloo, and in a few days the three friends were captured and taken to a secret base.
It was here that their vigor was assigned to be drained for the leader of the organization, but during the process,
Darrell’s body went through a hot rage, making him break another barrier to his hold on his flaming abilities. With his body literally fueled by his flames, he was about to break him and his companions
free and led the escape against Shadowloo’s armed forces.
Upon
the way out, the three friends were encountered by the leader of Shadowloo himself, M. Bison.
As the battle went on, Hinata taking on the man in the red attire, he slowly grew aware that he was a lot more stronger
than he initially put on. Hinata found it out too late and Bison was very close
to finishing her off, until Sakura went berserk and attacked Bison in a wild rage. It
was then announced that a dark entity was awakening inside Sakura and in order to find out exactly what was going on, the
three friends went on a journey around the world to find the one man able to understand it; Ryu. Along the way Darrell crossed paths with Yun and Yang Lee, Ken Masters and Sean Matsuda, Adon and Sagat,
and, unfortunately, Bison once again. This time around, Darrell was able to witness
the birth of Dark Sakura (Sakura Satsu), who was able to accompany the group as they went along their way.
A little
before the meeting with Ryu, Darrell and the others were confronted by Akuma, who was attracted to the group due to Sakura
Satsu’s presence. In the “mock fight” Akuma demolished the
4 young fighters and reassured that they would meet for real at a given date... which proved to be at the same time Sakura
found Ryu. Akuma first attacked Darrell, who managed to hold his own for a few
moments before Akuma knocked him out. However, Ryu prevented him from finishing
Darrell off, but instead made Akuma viciously attack the other people in attendance.
It took a while for Darrell to recover, but as he lay eyes on his fallen friends, something inside him snapped and
his aura turned golden. Powered by this strange ability, Darrell took Akuma on
by himself and proved to be just enough to beat him... for now.
A month
later, Darrell, both Sakura girls, and Hinata were in attendance of a tournament that was being held by Ken Masters and Robert
Garcia called “The Turn of the Century” tournament, collecting all sorts of fighters from around the world. As fate had it, their team was able to handle the first five fights without losing,
along the way coming in contact with Morrigan and Lilith Aensland, Athena Asamiya and her companions, and the likes of Eiji
Shinjo & Kayin Amoh. Also, it was during this time that Darrell and Sakura
started to really develop and share their feelings towards one another, in which psychic Rose showed them in a dream. However, in this dream, Rose let them know of three individuals that would threaten
the safety of the world and how they would need much help to defeat them. Keeping
this in mind, Darrell’s team kept their performance up... until they reached the 6th battle against Kyo Kusanagi
and his team. Try as he might, Darrell just couldn’t get the win his team
needed over Kyo and this would spark a new rivalry for him. However, at the time,
it just proved to be more discouraging for him. Once the 7th battle
was over, in which Darrell’s team was totally outclassed, Darrell lost faith in himself and ran away, unable to cope
with himself.
Fate
soon proved to be in his disfavor as Akuma returned to even the score with Darrell.
Being in the emotional slump, Darrell couldn’t keep up with the new, true form of Akuma and almost faced his
death in the hands of the Shun Goku Satsu before Sakura saved him. Darrell then
accepted the fact that Sakura was defiantly his inspiration and together took Akuma out.
As the events with two other men played themselves out, Darrell was able to walk out of the predicament forever bonded
with Sakura.
Four
years had passed and Darrell had since then finished high school and got a job at a small software store. By this time he married Sakura and resided in a home in which Karin Kanzuki gave to them as a present. One day, after encountering some small gang members on his way home, Darrell was unaware
to find out that he was being watched. That night, that person made his presence
known to be Darrell’s own dark “Satsu no Hadou clone”. Darrell
couldn’t figure out why he would have a clone of his own and even still why his own clone seemed to have a split personality. As Sakura tried to explain it, heading over to the place where she learned the technique,
Shun Goku Satsu, to begin with, they encountered a girl by the name of Kaoru Miadama, who she claimed was born with the evil
energy. Feeling sorry for her, Darrell and Sakura took Kaoru under their wing. Very shortly afterwards, however, they were ambushed by thought-to-have-been-dead
Shadowloo and brainwashed. For a little under a month, the group of Darrell,
Sakura, Hinata, and Kaoru reeked havoc on the likes of Interpol, Geese Howard and other places to fit Bison’s vendetta,
until finally the team of Ryu, Ken Masters, Chun-Li Xiang, Charlie Nash, and Karin Kanzuki broke them out of it.
Opting
to get some payback, a plan was forged to finish Bison and Shadowloo off once and for all.
Darrell, Sakura, Hinata, and Kaoru were to pretend to Ryu to Bison while Charlie, Chun-Li, and Ken snuck in to take
the place down from the inside. However it backfired. Where all seemed lost, Darrell’s dark side appeared and temporarily fused with its original to break
Bison’s hold on him and effortlessly took him down with a Shun Goku Satsu. After
destroying the Psycho Drive, it seemed that Darrell
finished Bison off for good. Darrell Satsu went on to live his own life while
Sakura and Darrell and the others went back to their daily lives.
Darrell
then participated in the Street Fighter 4 tournament, where he was defeated by his own wife in the semi-finals. During the tournament, he was able to fully establish a friendship with the Triple Dragons of Hong Kong
and witnessed Kaoru’s marriage. He was also proud to have Sakura be names
the new Street Fighter champion with her hard fought battle against Kairi. A
little after the battle was finished, however, Darrell’s dark side came to him in private and told him that they must
join back together in one being. Confused, Darrell then listened to the reason
that his other side gave him. Darrell Satsu said that he could feel something
very wrong in the pit of his stomach not connected to the battle with Kairi and he could sense that they would need to do
this later anyway. Darrell accepted his old vigor again, but the threat never
came...
Three
years passed. Now Darrell is head of the financial department of Metrosphere,
a young computer company in Tokyo. However, his office job would later have to be abandoned. Chun-Li
came to them saying that a number of global disasters have suddenly appeared, and it is connected to Shadowloo. Darrell now prepares to burn his greatest flame as he and his friends go off in search of Shadowloo to
take it down a third time, however, little does he know that Rose’s prophecy a decade ago was never finished... that
it was altered... and that the threat is a lot bigger than merely Shadowloo... Darrell
has no clue just how much of a role he has this time around...
PERSONALITY
In
comparison to Sakura, Darrell is normally quiet, yet makes it his business to become social when around people he can relate
to. Normally when friends are around Darrell is very light-hearted and battle
wise he always aims to do his best, save for when he fights corrupted people, where he tries his hardest to protect the ones
he love. At times Darrell sets his own standards too high (in particular against
people stronger than he is) and can really be hard on himself if he loses to a particular person, but not all people (for
example, Darrell could really chew himself out going against Akuma or Raven, for instance, but wouldn’t mind losing
to close people like Yang, Kaoru, Sakura, etc...)
For
the most part wherever Sakura is, Darrell is not too far behind to give her support.
However, even when he is around people he knows he can still be a bit introverted and hesitant to let people know how
he really feels and has a bit of a naïve streak very similar to Sakura’s, normally leaving either Hinata or Karin to
be the ‘logical’ people of the group. Nevertheless Darrell is very
easy to get along with and as good of a friend as a person could get.
